Tutorial Tuesday: Mixed Media Tag with Katie

Hello! Katie here today for Tutorial Tuesday! For today's post I wanted to show you guys how I created this fun Autumn mixed media tag using the Build a Scene Stamp Set. I love that this stamp set could work for any season, I chose to give my tag an Autumn theme.

1.First I applied a matte medium through a stencil onto my tag. This gives it texture, which looks great after you add color over it.

2. I used multiple techniques to color my tag. I started by misting it with Tattered Angels spray in orange, then I applied a bit of purple alcohol ink along the left side and to finish it off I rubbed yellow gelato on to the tag with my finger, getting it into the grooves of the matte medium.

3. Now for the stamping! The Build a Scene set is really fun, I started with the tree. Since I want this to look Autumn-y I only stamped the bare tree, not the leaves. I finished the scene with the other stamps like clouds, the owl and I stamped the fence repeatedly to create a border along the bottom.

To finish off my tag I add some stickers by Basic Grey and wrapped a bit of twine around it!

Ghoulish Greetings & A Chalk Moon Tutorial

Hello everyone! It's Amber here with this weeks Spotlight Sunday Post! Today I am featuring the Fall Add Ons Clear Stamp Set and I will also be sharing a fast and easy tutorial on how to create a colorful Halloween/Harvest moon.

I had lots of fun creating this card, I just love the sentiments and these two little ghost that come along with the Fall Add Ons clear stamp set.  See the colored moon behind the two little ghost...this is what I will be showing you how to create today. Below are the four steps I used to create the moon.

 Step 1.
Stamp your two ghost in black on a white piece of cardstock.

Step 2.
Now that you have your two ghost images stamped, pull out a piece of  scrap cardstock that has a circle punched out of it and place it around your two images. Then on another scrap piece of white cardstock scribble the colored chalk pencil colors that you want to use for your moon next to each other. I used a little red, two different oranges, and a yellow color for my moon.

Step 3.
Take a sponge applicator and and start to blend the colors together. I start blending from the outside in starting with the darkest color on the outside, in this case I started with the red then blended the orange in and then added the yellow in the middle.

Step 4.
Keep blending the colors together until you are happy with it, the more color you add the darker it will be. After I have all my colors blended together I remove the punched cardstock and erase all the chalk from the ghosts.

It really is as easy as that. There are all kinds of different ways you could go about this technique. You could use colored pencils, markers, or with a little masking you could even use a colored spray mist to create your moon. Below is a close up of the two little ghost and the colorful chalk moon I created with a few chalk colored pencils. Thanks for visiting!

Feature Friday - Halloween Mini Album with Dana

Hi! Dana here today sharing the mini album that I put together with the October Nesting Components Mixed Media Kit. This kit is one of my favorite PWP kits to date and I had a blast assembling this spooky book!

The Metal Buckles were my favorite item in the kit. I attached them to the Woven Cover using the matching brads that come with the buckles. I marked where I wanted to attach each buckle to the cover with a pen and then punched a hole through the cover using a hammer and nail. I cut strips of Grunge Board and dyed them with a mixture of black mist and coffee to create faux leather straps to hold my album shut. I used brads to fasten the straps to the back cover of the album, attaching them using the same process as the buckles.

I embellished the cover with my favorite stamp from the Art Textures Cling Stamp Set and a rub-on from the kit. The package of rub-ons from the kit includes two sheets of rub-ons, one in black and one it white! The white rub-ons work great on dark surfaces like the album cover.

I used the 7 Gypsies Wicked Journal Pages and Wicked Ephemera packages from the kit to cover the brads punched through the front and back covers of the album and also for the album pages. I distressed and inked the edges of the papers to give this album an aged look. The mix of page sizes and colorful vintage images gives this album a lot of visual interest. Also, both the Wicked Journal Pages and Wicked Ephemera are double-sided!

I embellished the pages of my album with images from the Clip Art Sheets and some Halloween Themed Stamp Sets. I used the Halloween Mix It Up Clear Stamp Set and the Good Witch Cling Stamp Set on the journaling tag and photo.

The Clip Art Sheets from the kit include a spooktacular mix of vintage Halloween images and  photos, like this one from the classic film The Wizard of Oz. I framed a vintage image on the left page, underneath the photo of my daughter, with the new Fringe Lace Clear Stamp.

I used the Good Witch Cling Stamp Set again here to dress up one of the ephemera pages along with a photo of my daughter "flying" around the backyard. I added a black rub-on directly to the photo.

Here are a couple more pages from my album. I have plenty of space to add journaling and photos from upcoming Halloween parties and trick-or-treating fun.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to create a Halloween themed album of your own. This kit is sold out, but you can still pick up the stamp sets, Woven Cover and Metal Buckles from the Paper Wings Production Store while supplies last. Act fast to purchase one of the last remaining Day of the Dead Kits before they are gone for good!

What's Up Wednesday: Vintage Fairy Cards

Hello! Cathi here over in Ireland!!
For my What's Up Wednesday post I want to showcase two new stamp sets:

If you know me, you know I love all things vintage, so I had to make some vintage cards. I challenged myself to use things only from my Paper Wings Productions Nesting Components kits as well! Luckily the June Nesting Component Kit came full of gorgeous Pink Paislee Hope Chest goodies, including the 6x6 papers that I used here!

My first card I did uses an image from the Fairies Clear Stamp Set. I stamped it onto the Hope Chest paper and colored it in with Chipped Sapphire and Old Paper Distress Inks. The glittery stars and the sentiment came from the Hanging Stars Clear Stamp Set. I used a gorgeous Prima vine that came from my September Nesting Component Kit. I finished it off with some Martha Stewart small butterfly punches.

I love using vintage images, so I just had to take one from the Winged Things Clip Art Sheet, this little fairy girl is just perfect for the sentiment I took from the Fairies Clear Stamp Set. The velvet ribbon is from the April Nesting Component Kit, which has sold out! I used my sparkly embossing powder to emboss the edges of the vintage image for a great antique touch.

Thanks so much for looking, I hope my cards have inspired you to look into the gorgeous stamp sets, vintage images and mixed media kits Paper Wings Productions stock.

There are a lot of gorgeous Halloween projects being posted on the Paper Wings blog this month, here is a vintage card I made earlier this month with Paper Wings Stamps and images, more details here.

Norma has done a great Halloween Tag and Dias de los Muertos Layout!

Hope you come visit the Paper Wings Productions shop and check out the kits and stamps!!
